The Board of Director’s from Milford’s Promise, a local organization that is committed to mobilizing the community to build the character and competence of youth by fulfilling 5 promises…Healthy starts, Safe Places, Caring Adults, Opportunities to Serve, and Marketable Skills…set forth by their parent organization America’s Promise, has recently recognized Grace Baptist Church as a Church of Promise.

The process of being named an Organization of Promise includes filling out an application which asks for an explanation of how the organization feels they are meeting each promise.  The completed application helps Milford’s Promise gather important data on what is available for youth in Milford.

Being named an Organization of Promise means commitment to providing the Five Promises for Youth.  Organizations who are named are encouraged to network and collaborate with other youth serving agencies to benefit young people throughout Milford.

On February 18th Executive Director of Milford’s Promise, Danielle Dumont and Joan Politi, current president of the organization presented Pastor Mixie with a framed certificate recognizing Grace Baptist’s commitment to youth.   During their presentation they mentioned that Milford’s Promise oversees an academic school mentoring program that is always in need of volunteers.  If interested in learning more about volunteering to be a mentor call Joan Politi 877-3803.  The commitment is just one hour per week during the school day.

Pastor Mixie has recently put out the call for church members to make a difference in a child’s life….whether a Sunday School teacher or a mentor there is no greater calling than service to our youngest.
